Downtown

Marshalltown’s historic downtown is exploding with public art and unique creative experiences, all located in a part of the city that is both historic and urban. Within a few blocks, you can find seven murals and the picturesque Gallery Garden. Pop into a local eatery for snack or get lunch and have a picnic in the Gallery Garden. 13th Street District

This quaint and vibrant area is a one-of-a-kind destination in Marshalltown. The 13th Street District is centered around Echo, a stunning 34-foot stainless steel sculpture by Illinois artist Bruce White. The area is also a local favorite for a relaxed vibe and unique dining experiences. Treat yourself to dinner or a snack and stroll through the newly designed West End Park. Linn Creek District

No matter how you get there—walk, bike, or drive—Linn Creek District offers a wealth of public art and beautiful outdoor spaces, including the Marshalltown Arts & Civic Center, home to Dedication to the Future by the late Christian Petersen. Go Big Before You Go Home

THERAVADA DHARMA SOCIETY OF IOWA

At 18 feet tall, the buddha statue at Theravada Dhamma Society of Iowa is one of the largest in the country. This lovely Buddhist temple also features a waterfall and a peaceful bridge. Read more about the buddha statue here.

MARSHALLTOWN HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS

The Marshalltown High School campus is home to some of the largest public art pieces in our community, as well as one of a handful of remaining roundhouses in Iowa. It’s also home to the Marshalltown Performing Arts Center, a state-of-the-art facility where Live on Stage is held, along with many other community dance, music, and theater performances.
